GABI, originally Austrian, has been living and working in Dahab for 14 years; formerly a professional teacher, she has 8 years experience of working in the IDC process, both in the Red Sea as well as in the Mediterranean. She has worked with several other PADI Course Directors and therefore has an incredible amount of experience in offering different approaches to meet candidates' needs. Gabi's approach is all about professionalism and time-flexibilty, to achieve best  education small groups are a MUST! She covers the languages English, German and Arabic and together with her PADI Staff Instructors, she makes the IDC an interesting and challenging experience for candidates.

In 1998 Gabi and Khaled, a married couple who have been living in Dahab for 14 years and working in the Diving Industry from their early days opened up the Dive Company SUB SINAI - SINAI ADVENTURES. From the beginning, their main target was to run a highly professional, standard-exceeding Dive Operation.
Khaled, being more the 'Safari' type of person, took over the organization of the regular, every day diving trips and all the different kinds of safaris. He explored the reefs around Dahab, both to north and south, mainly by camel as lots of excellent spots are inaccessible by vehicle; therefore he is the man to talk to when it comes to untouched sites somewhere in the middle of nowhere.
Gabi, having worked as a teacher for five years in Austria, is responsible for the instructing and administration side of things in SUB SINAI. She makes sure that all courses are conducted according to PADI standards and that teaching quality is of the highest professional level. Gabi, being a PADI Course Director herself, is also responsible for seeing that SUB SINAI maintains its status as a PADI 5* IDC GOLD PALM RESORT and thus provides customers with top quality education, an outstanding level of experience and an approachable, friendly service.

In this environment of diving and academic excellence, YOU will be doing your IDC. Our classroom is set up with multimedia equipment like a big TV screen, DVD recorder, laptops/PC plus all necessary PADI teaching materials.
You will be able to purchase any materials required for the IDC (with a 10% discount for IDC candidates) and other useful and fashionable accessories in our shop, which is situated right next to the coffee shop with its pleasant sitting areas, sun lounges and chill out hammocks in the Bedouin garden.

For those who want accommodation in a unique and authentic environment, we offer the SUB SINAI - SINAI ADVENTURES TENT CAMP, located in the same grounds as the Dive Center. Our tents are Bedouin-style in design but made out of waterproof and sun-resistant materials and are positioned in between the greenery and the Sinai rocks of our Bedouin Garden. The interiors of the tents feature wooden beds with comfortable mattresses, units to store your clothes and a cosy sitting area. To inspire a feeling reminiscent of the "A Thousand and One Arabian Nights" all tents are decorated with colourful Bedouin rugs and cushions.
However, if you would prefer to stay in one of Dahab's numerous hotels, we can also make all the arrangements for you.

The PADI IDC is divided into Staff Presentations, and Academic, Confined and Open Water Teaching Presentations including briefings and de-briefings given by the candidates. You are asked to score a minimum in each of the above mentioned segments to pass your IDC and proceed to the IE. As the developmental process is stressed during this program, there are no time limits within which we must move .
IMPORTANT NOTE: concerning the dive theory (physics, physiology, RDPs, skills and environment and equipment) you are asked to come FULLY PREPARED; those subjects will not be taught during the IDC! If necessary we will run workshops and of course we are always available to answer any questions our students may have. Further to that, please make sure that you complete the Candidate Workbook in self-study before the IDC starts; it will make the program easier for you if you've done the groundwork required beforehand. Also please update your PADI Instructor Manual. If you are not quite sure about anything, please enroll in the IDC preparation course. It is run for your benefit!
All the academic parts of the IDC will be conducted in the fully equipped classroom of SUB SINAI; after a days work you can use the classroom for preparations or simply for study purposes. If you want to relax for a while or grab some food during lunch breaks you are more than welcome to use our coffee shop, sitting areas and sun lounges.
Confined, Open Water work, the 800 metre snorkel swim and the Rescue workshop will be done in the sheltered Lighthouse Bay of Dahab, with its easy entries and calm waters. At the site, just a 5 minute car ride away from the Dive Center, you will find areas shaded from the sun, a restaurant and bathrooms for your convenience.

PADI INSTRUCTOR EXAMINATION

First of all RELAX! You won't be asked anything that you didn't learn during the IDC! The PADI IE, led by an independent PADI Examiner, is usually conducted over a period of one evening and two full days and takes place in the Hilton Hotel/Dahab.
DAY 1: registration, administration stuff like paperwork and payments (please note that this has to be done directly to the PADI Examiner and only by credit card); now you will also get your assignment slips. Exams, either the five theory topics or the Standards and Procedures exam, Academic Teaching Presentations; Confined Water Teaching Presentations.
DAY 2: Evaluation of your Rescue skills and Open Water Teaching Presentation.
